My roots began in the Midwest, specifically in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2004, I made a significant career shift from the advertising industry on Michigan Avenue in Chicago to embark on a path in education. I strongly believe that education empowers individuals with the essential knowledge, skills, and values needed to foster thriving communities.
Drawing from my MAE, MBA, and over 17 years of experience, I have dedicated myself to supporting students within the public school systems across diverse locations:
Chicago, Illinois - Santa Fe, New Mexico - Milwaukee, Wisconsin - and Fairfax, Virginia.
Throughout my career, I have taught a variety of curricula, including CCSS, MYP, and SOL. My teaching portfolio covers subjects ranging from music, AVID, general math lab, algebra 1, geometry, geometry honors, algebra 2, to IB applications and interpretations SL 1. Beyond teaching, I have also held supportive roles such as mentor, class sponsor, running coach, and math department chair.
I am grateful to have received accolades during my tenure with the Fairfax County Public Schools, including multiple Staff of the Month awards for atributes like Empathy (2022), Optimism (2018), Other People Matter Mindset (2018), Caring (2017), and Open-mindedness (2016). In 2018, I was honored to be named the Positivity Project Teacher of the Year and received a Certificate of Appreciation for my contributions to the school counseling program.
